For The Record is a Ska band from the central valley of California. Heavily influenced by the sounds of Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Streelight Manifesto and so many other great bands, we try to add our own touch while staying true to the classic third wave ska sound. We give it our all at every show we play, so come on out to a show and have a good time.

What is now known as For The Record started back in '05, at the end of Asa's eighth grade year. There was no name, no music, not even any practices, but there was an idea.

Then, in spring of '07, there were several practices, a bit of something approaching music, and a god-awful name that shall remain unmentioned.

Fast forward to 2011, and we see the birth of the band now known as For The Record. Since our first show we have played all over California, from San Jose to Anaheim.

In fall of 2018, For The Record officially became apart of the Manic Kat Records family. Currently we are working on recording and releasing our first record under the label; release date Summer 2019.

No matter what we always do our best to bring the best performance possible, wherever we go. So if you're reading this and want to book us, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Nathaniel "Becky" Mauldin

Aside from playing saxophone, Nathaniel graduated from Fresno State with a Bachelors Degree in Music Composition and a minor in Psychology and will be attending Fresno State in Fall 2018 for his Masters Degree in music composition. He is heavily influenced by video game soundtracks and movie scores, and ultimately drives his passion to become a video game composer, an industry on the rise. He is always looking for new sounds and concepts to incorporate into his music and would love to talk about his ideas with you, if you feel so inclined. For inquiries:

Niko East

One day Niko learned to play trombone.

Years later, some guy hit him up to play in a band.

Then Niko wasn't in the band.

Now he's back in the band.

Asa Waggoner

In the spring of 2011 Asa had a stupid idea that went something to the effect of: "You know what'd be really cool? Starting a ska band." And now we're here.
When he's not pen-deep in a notebook trying to write For The Record material or doing anything band-related, you can usually find him playing video games or playing with his dog, Molly.

Joseph "Jojo" Carlson

Self proclaimed, "hitter of things", Joseph has been bringing the beat to FTR for 2 years now. If Joseph isn't playing Ska music, there's a good chance that he's listening to it. The only thing more skillful than his drumming is his skanking abilities.

Alexia Vargas

Trumpet. Back-up vocals.

David "GrildCHZ" Casuga

In addition to playing bass in the band, GrildCHZ also works as a music teacher in a few schools around California's Central Valley. He is very passionate about music's ability to transcend barriors of communication and connect people, and always tries his best to use music as a means to spread joy and happiness. Though the has had many years of experience playing bass he is always ready to learn more.
Outside of music CHZ avidly streams online at . Primarily, he plays League of Legends, and if you feel like you want to step up and prove your league skills, feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to set up a 1v1.
